2. Research thesis :
During the first year of the master’s program, all students have to write a research thesis (or a Bachelorarbeit for FIFA students).
Here are some examples of recent research thesis written by students at Sciences Po Lille.
- The Interactions between the European Union and NATO: towards more cooperation in Northern Europe? An analysis of the impact of Finland’s and Sweden’s NATO membership on EU-NATO inter-organizational interactions.

3. Internship or Research track (S4)
As part of the MTG master’s program, students must complete a six-month end-of-studies internship during semester 4, in France or abroad, or choose the Research track option.
- The end-of-studies internship is an integral part of the Master 2 program and is worth 30 ECTS credits. It may begin as early as January and end no later than September 30 of the current year, with a maximum duration of six months.
The internship is evaluated by the host organization and requires an internship report, and possibly a defense at Sciences Po Lille.
- Students who choose the research track can either remain at SPL, conduct field research, or work in an external research unit.
The research thesis is defended before a jury at the end of the semester (30 ECTS).
